AMA Apprenticeship and Traineeship Services is an Apprenticeship Network Provider in WA.

M & L Meats in Kenwick has been an established part of the retail scene in Kenwick for a number of years producing high quality meat products. The store is open from 6am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 6am-1.30pm Saturday. This position would be required to work full time hours on a roster basis with a 7am start during these times.

No experience is required however you must pay exceptional attention to hygiene and appearance and have good customer service skills. You will demonstrate an initiative and willingness to learn from the highly experienced qualified Butcher along with excellent customer service and communication skills.

A drivers licence and own vehicle would be an advantage, along with a passion to join the trade and complete your apprenticeship training.

As an apprentice butcher you will undertake the following tasks:

• preparing meat for sale by removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding meat to shape and size for display or as ordered
• preparing crumbed cuts of meat, and marinating, seasoning and curing special cuts
• selecting and preparing meat to produce smallgoods
• operating machines to grind, mix, mince and tenderise meat
• making seasonings and pickles by mixing spices, salt and other ingredients
• operating sausage filling machines, smoking chambers, and cooking kettles and vats
• advising customers on the suitability and uses of cuts of meat
